A Tailored Kitchen System For Modern Australia

“Tableau is an evolution of what we’ve been doing, a move in the ethos of Australian design,” Charlie Wilde, Director at Cantilever.

In Concept Space #2 'Eye in the Sky', we specified the Tableau system because of its flexible approach to creating a centre piece kitchen that is functional but is also acutely aware of the design aesthetics required by modern Australia.

The Tableau Kitchen System is designed based on four main components that have been divided as core and complementary elements; The Bench, Block, Shelf and Store. 

Functional and elegant. 

Through materiality, detail and colour, DesignOffice devised Tableau alongside Cantilever to be perceived as a series of versatile components that work both separately and together to meet a whole range of design solutions.

Multiple elements come together in the kitchen to provide a cohesive, functional and beautiful space.

This was a perfect match for what Matt Woods required in the Concept Space. It was all about detail and materiality. We also found that the team at Cantilever took our initial design concept and came up with a solution that was a perfect fit for the space. 

The Tableau Kitchen System is designed based on four main components that have been divided as core and complementary elements; The Bench, Block, Shelf and Store.

These can all be seen in the Matt Woods design.

Considered as a ‘core’ element of Tableau, the Block can house primary food and appliance storage. Boasting a similar level of flexibility, the Bench is a counter-height solution that can transform into a workspace, breakfast bar or meeting space. 

As kitchens require ample storage, Tableau’s Store provides cupboards with an added element of elegant simplicity. As a fixed component, Store can also house overhead range hoods if required. 

Clever additions such as the wine niche, as seen in the Matt Woods design, makes the Tableau perfect for modern Australia living.

On the other hand, Shelf is an independent wall-mounted shelving system that is available in five different colourways and sizes. Providing both slim-line storage and display, it has a modern silhouette that completes the Tableau Kitchen System.

The Tableau was born out of a collaboration on a multi-residential project with DesignOffice. We can see how and we can see how, as a high quality Australian made product, this modern kitchen system can be part of the solution for the multi-residential sector going forward while also continuing to grow in the single residential space.
